What you don't like our 2004 photo? One has passed on, one lives in PA, etc. Please bring the camera so the photo can be taken.

Beautiful group of Neighborhood Board 8, however we NEED a new updated picture. How about it? Someone, anyone

We are trying, but as an issue between owner & leaseholders, legally we have NO standing. Chair 1st raised this issue in 2007, and again 2 months ago. Please note, you will see the issue in the N.B. Newsletter that is coming out within two weeks. One of the N.B. members lives in Date-Laau, but upon termination of lease, will be moving to Makiki.
You are the 1st to mention 2,500 people. With 260 units we have been using a 3 as a multiplier = 780+ neighbors. I'll look at the 2000 census data to further clarify.
We, the Neighborhood Board, have notified Rep. Nishimoto (repnishimoto@capitol.hawaii.gov) & Councilmember Bainum (bainum@honolulu.gov) of our concerns for our neighbors. It would be helpful if the Date-Laau neighbors notified them also with their concerns. Phone calls or e-mails would help raise awareness.
In addition to raising awareness via Moiliili Matters, what other steps are you and your wife taking to help yourself?

The Laau St. area is on leasehold land which runs up 2012!
This will affect at least 2,500 people including my wife and I.
Honolulu can not absorb that many working poor.
Help!!!

Two things:
1. The picture used above is from the 2005 Board...only 4 people in the picture still serve. One has passed on and others moved on to other things.
2. Our next meeting will be a Special meeting on Tuesday, 23 June at Central Union Church to discuss the Kapiolani Medical Center's plan for renovation/rebuilding for the next 30 years. How it will effect traffic on Punahou Street, on Bingham Street, noise in the neighborhood...all issues are on the table.
Please join us at 6:30 p.m. on Tues. 23 June at Central Union Church.
