Driving down King Street now is so much nicer without the presence of tents lining King Street. The homeless people who lived there for months to more-than-a-year have all vanished. They're all gone - like magic.
We know however that this cannot be true. Our homeless issue is way more complex than that.
I've missed going to Stadium Park. Although I'm sure the park is more welcoming in appearance now, I can't help but wonder what the next step is. The…

mahalo for the invitation. i really enjoyed the affair, derek! and i wanted to let alyssa know (we had a short conversation about my kids before the gov spoke) that my youngest daughter is also an "alyssa" :)
but, i think neil did the best he could with his answer to our question. he reflected his inexperience with the issue of iwi kupuna, however. he gave the politically correct response: "let the law be the law and i will enforce the laws", to paraphrase.
but what i did hear in the mix was his willingness to keep all doors open to the host culture in this matter. he wants to use the local bubureaucratic structure already in place to work. i guess that sounds logical. didn't he say something to the effect that he wanted even more community input?
but from the way he espoused the virtues of TMT, i think informs how he ranks, so to speak, of the cultural relevance vs. "progress", economic and/or otherwise.
ps.
anae (sp?) is gorgeous! congratulations again, pops.
Derek: We had a great time at the social, and it was goodto see the community out again. The governor gave some pretty good answers to the questions asked, I really look forward to see the rest of his responses.
The cleanup went very well. We had 52 plus volunteers sign in and several more who I know didn't. Varsity Street, and Kalo Pl look so much better now, and everyone who came seemed to have a great time.

I had heard about the site a while back either in the print or tv news. Hope to attend the event. Thanks,
