Well at the last neighborhood board meeting the Iolani representative told all in no uncertain terms would Iolani renew or extend any leases. The property that they do not develope immediately to meet the needs of the school, will be rented out on a…
My wife and I are renters, though know a few owners well, along with our landlord who's cool.
When we moved in we signed a two year rental agreement which ran up long ago.
So just have verbally agreed to continue at the present rental price.

Is there any possibilities to end the lease early?
A representative from Iolani School will be at the Neighborhood Board meeting on Thursday, 2 July (6:30 p.m. at Washington Middle School). You may want to ask that question Thursday evening.
Well... now we know there will be no lease renegotiations with the original land owner.
The leases run up in Dec. 2012.
Now to see if Iolani School will boot everyone out at that time. (?)
The Laau St. area is on leasehold land which runs up 2012!
This will affect at least 2,500 people including my wife and I.
Honolulu can not absorb that many working poor.
Help!!!

- I hope you have been informed of the 30 July meeting for the Date-laau people and Iolani School folks. Even though it's in the evening, and you work, I hope you can help spread the word. I've seen the flyer that at least 2 neighbors are passing out with the time and location. If you did not receive a flyer, let me know and I'll dig up the details to pass along.

- Iolani School is holding a meeting on the 30th of July, at the school so it is close-by for all the neighbors. What I heard at the N.B. meeting was that nothing will be done o the property for many years to come, and that leases will be offered on a year-to-year basis. Please call Iolani (Glenn Ching) for all the details as to time, location, etc.
