What is one thing you like about Mō‘ili‘ili?
There are many things I like about Mo'ili'ili, but the one thing that highlights its beauty, is its Community.
What is one thing you would change about Mō‘ili‘ili?
Involve the businesses of Mo'ili'ili in providing more oportunities for the children to learn about them. The businesses need to take the initiative in making sure they are well educated because they are the roots and business income of our community and employees once they graduate from school.

Introduce yourself!
Aloha,
My name is Fred Bandack, been living in Mo'ili'ili for 10 years. My business is in Waikiki and at home. You can learn more about me by knowing my children better!

My daughters Natasha (8) and Nikkita (7) study at Kuhio Elementary and Mo'ili'ili Community Center the Japanese Language School. Also they are learning Hula at UH, Music at the Hawaii Youth Symphony and Chess in Manoa.

We are very family oriented, my wife Yen comes from Vietnam (the greatest cook in the world!). We spend a lot of time together and are very community based. We participate in many Cultural activities, TAG clean ups, Peace Marches, Children & Youth Day and more!!!

Recently my family started a new Association (Japan-Hawaii Ground Golf Association" were we encourage parents to spend more time with their children in the outdoors. We started at University Lab School and now expanding to Kuhio Elementary School P.E. Programs. We have free sessions every Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. everyone is invited at UH Lab School, at the intersection of University and Dole.

I have much more to tell you, but I hope you had a sample of who I am!

Thank you for asking.

Aloha Fred,

First my apologies for mistakenly referring to you below as Frank. Iʻm not sure exactly why I did that.

Thanks for your comment. I checked out the event you wrote about click here for event but I didnʻt see any mention of the December 2 date that was changed to December 9. Am I missing something?

Aloha Frank,

I'm glad you like the site and that you are finding use in it. I didn't have an opportunity to speak with you on Tuesday after the OTMBA meeting because I had to get back to work, but I hope that at the next meeting, I'll be able to catch up with you.

I'm not sure if there is a fast way to advocate for 180 days minimum. I've a meeting at Kaimuki High tonight and I'll bring it up to generate some discussion among staff, parents, students. Later tonight I'll be with a senator's aide so we can talk story on the issue.
I'd really like to gather Kuhio opinion's, Kaimuki High opinions, Washington Middle opinions, etc and then see if we can write something up by December to submit to the Legislature.

I've not heard of an group advocating for a 180 day minimum school year. Maybe if we both look at the furlough protesters from HI Kai area, perhaps we can pick up on their energy and begin such a group. Or, who knows perhaps a few people from our Mo'ili'ili SCC's can get this moving.

Hi Fred,
Good job being elected the Chair of SCC at Kuhio. Perhaps we can talk sometime as to who the other members are. Are all positions filled? When are the meetings? Can you post them here on M/M?
