What is one thing you like about Mō‘ili‘ili?
It is convenient, has a long history and is a central location for east Honolulu. By being next to the University
it offers easy access to the campus for classes and events.
What is one thing you would change about Mō‘ili‘ili?
Work to have it become a more invigorated community with a more integrated community with cap and gown etc,
Occupation
Executive Director of Moiliili Community Center
Affiliations
OTMB Member, Project Dana Advisory Board
Introduce yourself!
I have been in Moiliili for over l5 years through my work as executive director of Moiliili Community Center. The
Center has been in Moiliili for over 107 years, starting as a Japanese Language School and evolving into the community center it is today. There are strong ties of the people who came to this area and raised families and have been active at MCC for many generations.

This is an important time for the area as it looks at the impact of rapid transit, the economy, and the changing social structure of the area. It offers possibilities of creating new ventures, activities and a closer alliance with the neighborhood and the university.

Rep. Scott Saiki asked me to create a group on this network for Project Dana when I met with him last month. You go to the group by CLICKING HERE. Please feel free to join the group and if youʻd like it would be nice to learn a little more about the group. Previous to meeting with Rep. Saiki, I did not know about the group.

Aloha Rebecca,

Welcome and Mahalo for joining Mōʻiliʻili Matters. Thank you also for sharing a brief history of our community. These are indeed important times and I hope that Mōʻiliʻili Matters can be one way (out of many) that our community can exchange and express viewpoints, concerns, etc., on matters important to Mōʻiliʻili.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the site or if there is anything I can do to help you with the site.
