Mō‘ili‘ili Matters

Where the Mō‘ili‘ili community gathers online

It finally made it's appearance this morning, quite unexpectedly, which made me do a double take. The morning started off quietly. After the usual morning routine, I sat outside on the stairs and proceeded to blow bubbles and watch them journey towards the sky. Bubbles sound crunchy when they pop, which is a rather interesting sound. All of a sudden, the loud sounds of a truck engine. As trash pick-up is not on a Monday, I was curious. As I watched in disbelief, a trash truck made it's way down my street. It stopped between my house and the next. Two men appeared suddenly and started to feed bulky items into the back of the truck, which crunched down on them with brute force, splintering a couch and crushing the other items. I was totally amazed, because bulky items sit on the curb for well over a month, and while the scheduled pickup is usually once a month, the items that were there had been sitting since November. I had heard myths that the bulky item pick-up service existed, but had never observed them in person. Bloody amazing! They really do exist! Shock and awe, you bet! Blimey, there they were, actually performing the service I thought they never did! They did, however, leave the water heater and refrigerator on the curb, then left.

I thought, Hmmmmmm, wondering about the reason for the incomplete pick-up. Still pondering my glimpse of the elusive bulky item pickup beings, I continued to blow bubbles and watch them soar. It's rather relaxing, in the mornings, watching the sun make it's way through the clouds. My attention was drawn to another loud truck engine coming down the street. This truck had a few large items in the back. They stopped in the same area the trash truck did, and loaded the heater and refrigerator onto the back, then left. By this time, I was incredulous! The curb area was actually empty after weeks of having items stacked upon it! I had only heard stories, but right in front of my eyes, they magically materialized and took the bulky items away. Amazing! Another myth shattered! I just had to blog about it. (Hee, Hee!)
